JUDITH ANN CHASE Graveside services for Cortez resident Judith Ann Chase will be held at noon on Friday, October 21 at Monticello Cemetery. Judy was born September 11, 1942 in Marshfield, Wis. the daughter of William Peter and Lavera (Pickart) Schmitz. She passed away on Monday, October 17, 2016 at Southwest Memorial Hospital at the age of 74. On November 10, 1962 Judy married Thomas James Chase in Wisconsin. The couple had their marriage sealed for time and all eternity in Manti, Utah on November 10, 1977. Judy was a devoted member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She was active in Relief Society and worked tirelessly for 36 years on genealogy. In her free time, Judy enjoyed quilting, working in her yard and gardening. Judy would help anyone; she loved to care for people. Surviving Judy are her son, Tom Chase Jr. of Cortez; her grandchildren, Sierra Dawn Christiansen, Corbin Mason Black and Zachary Ty Smith; three great-grandchildren; by her siblings, Karen Wolf, Howard Schmitz (Gail), and Bill Schmitz (Alice) all of Wisconsin, and Deb Schell (Phill) of Santa Fe, N.M.; and by numerous nieces and nephews. Judy was preceded in death by her parents; by her husband; by her daughter-in-law, Marci Chase; and by her brother-in-law, Fred Wolf.
