JOY JOLENE SANCHEZ Graveside services for lifelong Cortez resident, Joy Jolene Sanchez will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, March 21 at the Lewis Cemetery. Joy was born on March 30, 1936 in Sayre, Okla. the daughter of Delbert and Lillian Baker. She passed away on Tuesday, March 17, 2015 at the Vista Grande Nursing Home. Joy was 78 years old. Graduating from High school the valedictorian of her class. Joy went on to marry the love of her life, Clifford Sanchez. She loved her family very much. Although Clifford preceded her in death, Joy never loved another. She was a loyal loving woman who gave her life to Christ. Joy helped countless young people down the rodeo trail. Many youngsters considered her a second mom. Surviving Joy are her children, Mark Sanchez of Algodones, N.M., Mike Sanchez and wife, Lynn of Red Mesa, Deann Sanchez of Durango, Shannon Pennell of Farmington, N.M., Chancey Sanchez and wife, Jennifer of Cortez and David Sanchez of Denver, Colo.; her brother, Billy Baker and wife, Micky of Cortez; as well as 11 grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. Preceding her in death are her parents; and her beloved husband, Clifford Sanchez.
