Josie Mary Salazar Gallegos

JOSIE MARY SALAZAR GALLEGOS Funeral Mass for Josie Mary Salazar Gallegos, a longtime resident of Mancos, will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, March 30 at St. Rita Catholic Church. Cremation will follow the services. Visitation has been set for Sunday evening at St. Rita beginning at 7 p.m. Josie was born July 12, 1928 at Park View, N.M. to Emilio and Margarita (Archuleta) Salazar. She passed away at her Mancos home on Tuesday, March 24, 2009 at the age of 80. On September 18, 1948 Josie married Victor Joe Gallegos in Ogden, Utah. The couple celebrated sixty years of marriage last September. For a number of years Josie worked as a Teacher's Assistant in the Mancos schools. In her free time she love making pottery, crocheting and reading. Surviving Josie are her beloved husband, Victor Gallegos of Mancos; four sons, Larry A. Gallegos of Farmington, N.M., Raymond N. "Conte" Gallegos of Mancos, Victor C. Gallegos of Clifton, Colo. and Eugene Tommy Gallegos of Durango, Colo.; and her daughter, Debbie A. Hull and husband, Will of Ignacio, Colo. Also surviving Josie are 16 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren; her siblings, Louie Salazar, Pat Salazar and wife, Bernie of Ogden, Utah, and Jenny Nieto and husband, Jose. One son, Felix "Sonny" Gallegos preceded Josie in death.
