Josephine Mildred "Jo" Stockdale

JOSEPHINE MILDRED “JO” STOCKDALE Funeral services for longtime Cortez resident, Josephine M. 'Jo' Stockdale will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, April 30 at St. Barnabas Episcopal Church with Rev. Erika Meyer and Pastor Jeff McDonell officiating. Interment will follow at Cortez Cemetery. Visitation has been set for Sunday afternoon from 3 to 5 p.m. at Ertel Memorial Chapel. Jo was born May 25, 1915 in Sidney, Ill. She passed away at Southwest Memorial Hospital on Thursday, April 26, 2007 at the age of 91. She was an active member of St. Barnabas Episcopal Church and served as a Sunday School teacher. Jo was also a member of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority. She was known as a fabulous cook and baker, especially her pies. Jo was fond of time spent fishing as well. Surviving Jo are her children, Charles Stockdale and wife, Peggy of Sun City West, Ariz., Saundra Davies and husband, Garth, John Stockdale and wife, Diedra, and Cindy Dickson and husband, Clay all of Cortez. Six grandchildren, Mike Stockdale, Stephanie Berger, Chris Neal, Kelly Neal, Brandon Dickson and Ashlee Dickson; and seven great grandchildren also survive Jo. She was preceded in death by her husband, Francis R. Stockdale in 1999. Memorial contributions can be made in memory of Josephine Stockdale with St. Barnabas Episcopal Church.
