Josephine Julia Quintana

Funeral Mass for longtime area resident Josephine Julia "Lovey" Quintana will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, April 8 at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church in Dolores. Reverend Pat Valdez, C.R. will officiate. A Rosary Service will be held on Thursday evening at 6 p.m. at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church. Lovey was born December 17, 1944 in Bernalillo, N.M. the daughter of Prudencio G. and Angelita (Chavez) Garcia. She passed away on Thursday, March 31, 2016 at Mercy Regional Medical Center in Durango at the age of 71. On March 11, 1951 Lovey married Charles J.R. Quintana in Cortez. The couple shared 59 wonderful years together. Lovey was a member of Catholic Daughters and the Cortez Elks Lodge. She was an avid bowler and in her free time, Lovey enjoyed reading, crocheting, cooking and playing Bingo. Surviving Lovey are her husband, Charles Quintana of Cortez; and her children, Katherine Quintana and partner, Maureen McCarthy of Dublin, Calif., Keith Quintana (April) of Denver, Colo., and Anthony Quintana (Lorna) of Cortez. She also leaves behind her grandchildren, Kaiyomia Case, Kristen Quintana, Keith Tyler Quintana, Jerome Quintana, Jayma Quintana, Jeremy Quintana, Brittany Quintana, Maurice Tenney Jr., Cammie Sutherland, Chip Sutherland, and Becka Sutherland; her great-grandchildren, Brayden Bertram, Eadyn Bertram, Traven Bertram, Charlie Quintana, Keith Tyler Quintana, Aspen Quintana, Angel Sutherland, Alley Sutherland, Brice Sutherland, Gunner Sutherland, Amelia Quintana, Julian Quintana, Serenity Quintana, Jackson Champ, Karissa Champ, and Kolsen Rainey; her siblings, Gabe Garcia of Dolores, Mary Lou Montano (Gus) of Cahilon, N.M.; her sister-in-law, Cheryl Garcia of Cortez; numerous nieces and nephews; by Charles' brothers and sisters; and by her grand dog, Bailey Quintana. Lovey was preceded in death by her parents; and by her brother, Armando Garcia. A memorial fund has been set up in Josephine "Lovey" Quintana's name at Dolores State Bank.
