Joseph Paul Pilon was born September 16, 1950, to Allison “Joe” and Myrle Margaret (Lucas) Pilon in Salt Lake City, Utah. He passed away in Cortez, Colorado, on February 19, 2021, at the age of 70.
Joseph attended school in Dove Creek, Colorado, and raised his family in the Cortez area. He loved the outdoors and exploring the Four Corners region by camping, hunting, snowmobiling, and riding ATVs as often as possible. In 2008 he retired and moved to Mesa, Arizona, where he formed a cherished circle of friends and served as a Eucharistic minister with St. Andrew the Apostle Catholic Church.
Surviving Joseph are his significant other Maureen Yaw of Chandler, AZ; daughter Alicia of Pasadena, California; grandson Andrew Durall and wife Angela of Bloomfield, New Mexico; great-grandchildren Veronica, Elizabeth, and Cash Durall; sister Jeanne Todd and husband Ken of Cortez; and twin brother Jerold “Jerry” Pilon and wife Leta of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Preceding him in death were his parents; his son, Sean Pilon; and siblings, Jon, Mary, James, and Alan Pilon.
A celebration of Joseph’s life will be planned for later this year. His family invites memorial donations be made to Hospice of Montezuma, PO Box 740, Cortez, CO 81321.
