Joseph Dwayne "Dewey" Mestas

JOSEPH DWAYNE "DEWEY" MESTAS Funeral Mass for longtime Mancos resident Joseph Dwayne "Dewey" Mestas will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, July 6 at St. Rita Catholic Church. Cremation will follow. A visitation has been scheduled for Sunday afternoon at 4:00 p.m. at Ertel Memorial Chapel followed by a Rosary service at 5:00 p.m. Dewey was born September 9, 1962 in Heber City, Utah the son of Joe Ralph and Connie Mary Comsoupcion (Garcia) Mestas. He passed away on Wednesday, July 1, 2015 at his residence at the age of 52. Dewey enjoyed time spent outdoors hunting and fishing. He was a loving and kind man who had a wonderful sense of humor. Dewey was a skilled carpenter. His family meant the world to him and Dewey loved his parents dearly. He was a good Christian that will be missed by many. Surviving Dewey are his parents Joe and Connie Mestas of Mancos; his children, Joseph Mestas, Dulina Hockaday and husband, Jason, and Connie Veasley and husband, LeShaun, all of Denver, Colo.; 10 grandchildren; and by his siblings, Levon Trujillo of Albuquerque, N.M., Diane Nash and husband, Roger of Aurora, Colo., Yolanda Gonzales and husband, Tim of Aztec, N.M., and Tony Mestas and wife, Edryn of Bloomfield, N.M.
