JOSEPH ABEL GARCIA Funeral Mass for Joseph Abel Garcia will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, November 19 at St. Rita Catholic Church with Father Joseph L. Gallegos, C.R. officiating. Interment will follow at Cedar Grove Cemetery. Rosary services will be held Tuesday evening at St. Rita beginning at 7 p.m. Born February 1, 1941 in Lyden, N.M. Abel was the son of Salvador E. and Maria C. (Romero) Garcia. He passed away in San Jose, Calif. on Tuesday, November 11, 2008 at the age of 67. Abel was a member of American Legion Post #491 in San Jose, Calif. He worked for Ford Motor Company for 20 years. In his free time, Abel enjoyed both saltwater and freshwater fishing, as well as playing pool and traveling. Surviving Abel are his wife Ernestine "Tina" Garcia of San Jose, Calif.; his children, Lisa Garcia and Ophie Martinez of Denver, Colo., Lynn Mitchell and husband, Gary of Denver, Colo., Joseph A. Garcia Jr. and wife, Stacey of San Jose, Calif., and Lester Anthony Garcia and wife, Char of Bayfield, Colo.; by his grandchildren, Sophia, Rosamaria, James, Matt, Jessica, Julian, Lydia, Krystal, Heidi, and Lester A. Garcia Jr.; and by numerous great grandchildren. Also surviving Abel are two brothers, Silviano Garcia and Joe Benito Garcia and wife, Kathy all of Mancos; and by his sister, Carmen Maestas of Cortez. Abel was preceded in death by his first wife, Sophie (Esquibel) Garcia; his parents; and by two brothers, Albert Garcia and Joe Sosten Garcia.
