JOSE IGNACIO VALDEZ MARQUEZ Funeral services for Jose Ignacio Valdez Marquez will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, September 3 at Ertel Memorial Chapel. Interment will follow at Cortez Cemetery. Jose ("Nacho" as he was known to family and friends) was born July 31, 1954 in San Rafael Satevo, Chihuahua, Mexico the son of Isabel Valdez Fierro and Sara (Marquez) Saens. He passed away on Tuesday, August 24, 2010 at the age of 56. Jose enjoyed gardening; he was very proud of his garden he planted at his niece's house. He loved to eat and was a wonderful cook. When it was time to butcher hogs, Jose was the man for the job. He was known for his wonderful Chicharrones. Jose had a big heart and was always looking after those down on their luck. Surviving Jose are his son, Eric Valdez Lopez of Cortez; his siblings, Simon Valdez of Chihuahua, Mexico, Jesus Valdez and wife, Francisca of Cortez, Hermelinda Villareal and husband, Gustavo of Chihuahua, Mexico, Ramon Valdez and wife, Caroline of Mississippi, and Antonio Valdez of Chihuahua, Mexico; by his sister-in-law, Viola Valdez; and many nieces and nephews. Jose was preceded in death by his parents; and his brother, Rodolfo Valdez.
