JONAS LIGHT Funeral services for Jonas Light, a lifelong resident of the area will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, December 3 at Ertel Memorial Chapel. Interment will follow at Cortez Cemetery. Jonas was born May 7, 1958 in Cortez the son of Willie Light Sr. and Sybil Mae Hight. He passed away Wednesday, November 30, 2005 at Southwest Memorial Hospital at the age of 47. After graduating Rehoboth Christian School in 1976, Jonas continued his education at San Juan Community College. He was currently employed by Holt Sheet Metal Inc. in Durango. He loved to hunt and fish and work with his hands while farming and ranching. Jonas had a wonderful sense of humor and enjoyed the telling of a good joke. True to his love of the outdoors, Jonas loved to ride motorcycles. Surviving Jonas are his wife, Sylvia (Fuentes) Light of Kirtland, N.M.; his daughter, Kimberly Light of Kirtland, N.M.; his father, Willie Light Sr. and wife, Barbara of Rattlesnake, N.M.; stepchildren, Sergio Montanez of Farmington, N.M., Lupe Montanez of Cortez, Adrianna Montanez, Francisco Montanez, and Christian Montanez all of Farmington, N.M.; three sisters, Elvena Leight of Shiprock, N.M., Elizabeth Hobson and husband, Melvin of Farmington, N.M., and Joycelyn Light of San Diego, Calif.; two brothers, Willard Light Jr. and Simon Light of Towaoc; a step-brother, Lenny Iyua of Kirtland, N.M.; a step-sister, LisaJann Yazzie of Shiprock, N.M; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
