JOHNNY MARTIN DUDLEY Funeral services for lifelong Cortez resident, Johnny Martin Dudley will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, May 21 at the Ertel Memorial Chapel. Interment will follow at the Cortez Cemetery. Mr. Lane Bailey will be officiating. Johnny was born on May 8, 1935 in Amarillo, Tex. the son of Clifford Martin and Lucille (Essary) Dudley. He passed away on Wednesday, May 18, 2005 at his home in Cortez at the age of 70. Johnny was an Army Veteran and a member of the National Guard. He loved woodworking, gardening, canning his own food, doing ranch work and running cattle on his property. Surviving Johnny are his mother, Lucille Dudley; his children, Donna Bailey and husband, Lane of Thornton, Colo., Deborah Kerns and husband, David of Pagosa Springs, Steve Calliham and wife, JoDene of Monticello, Utah, Vanessa Chapman of Mesa, Ariz., Tim Hall and wife, Dede, and Jeffery Calliham and wife, Tina all of Cortez. He leaves 13 grandchildren, five great-grandchildren; and his sister, Thelma Jean Gregory of Cortez. Preceding him in death were his father, Clifford M. Dudley; his wife, LaVerne Nona (Montgomery) Dudley; his son, Dana Spruell; and his brother, Clifford A. Dudley. Memorial contributions can be made in Johnny’s name to Hospice of Montezuma.
