JOHNNY EUGENE GREEN On August 27, 2011 Johnny Eugene Green passed away at Southwest Memorial Hospital at the age of 68. He was born September 14, 1942 in Cortez, Colo. to John and Roberta Green. Raised in Cortez, Johnny was M-CHS Senior Class President of his graduating class of 1960. Following graduation Johnny attended technical college for drafting. From there he managed a bowling alley in Longmont, Colo. and then moved to Riverton, Wyo. where he drove large equipment to a mining pit. In the early 1970s Johnny moved back to Cortez and began using his drafting skills working for Superior/Mobile Oil. Finally Johnny retired from RW Trucking. Johnny married Jo Green on August 8, 1987 in Cortez. He was a loving husband. He loved being with family and friends and always looked forward to family gatherings. Johnny was and avid Broncos fan and was also known for his extensive Bronco memorabilia. He also enjoyed time spent golfing, bowling and fishing and was very politically active. Surviving Johnny are his wife of 24 years, Jo Green of Cortez; his children, Janell Green of Boise, Ida., Mike Green of Sayre, Penn., Joan Carlson of Wendover, Utah, Marty Buchanon of Longmont, Colo., Jody Gomez and husband, Richard of Cortez, and Kris Schurr of Phoenix, Ariz.; and by seven grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Also surviving Johnny are his two brothers, J.T. Green and wife, Kay of Tucson, Ariz. and Robert Green and wife, Loretta of Cortez; by his sister, Tiny Higman of Cortez; his mother-in-law, Opal Gran of Cortez; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, G.W. Green; brother-in-law, Dale Higman; by a niece, Melody Hill; and nephew, Steve Higman. Cremation has taken place and no services are planned.
