JOHN SAMUEL FOSTER Funeral services for lifelong Cortez resident, John Samuel Foster will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, February 9 at the Ertel Memorial Chapel. Interment will follow at the Summit Ridge Cemetery. Officiating will be Mr. Glen Randol. Visitation has been set for Tuesday afternoon from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Ertel Chapel. John was born at Telluride, Colo. on September 9, 1947, the son of Jesse McKendree Foster and Violet (Swain) Foster. He passed away at Southwest Memorial Hospital on Thursday, February 3, 2005. He was 57 years old. John married Bobbie Christine Caldwell on October 2, 1964 in Cortez, sharing 40 years of marriage. By trade, John was an auto mechanic and he loved old cars. In his free time he liked to hunt and ride ATVs, and enjoyed being around horses. John was a member of the Mancos Church of Christ. Surviving John are his beloved wife, Bobbie Foster of Cortez; and his two daughters, Lisa Ann Renner and husband, Shawn of Tucson, Ariz., and Carrie Ellen Short and husband, Kevin of Durango. Four grandchildren, John Casey Hart, Jessica Christine Renner, Kyle Foster Short, and Marilyn Rose Short; one great grandchild, Garret Hart; his brother, Seciel Foster and wife, Linda; and his sister, Carylee Phillips and husband, Jim of Nucla, Colo. also survive John.
