John Michael Rafle

JOHN MICHAEL RAFLE John Michael Rafle was born December 6, 1957 in Erie, Penn. the son of Abram Coleman and Josephine Nelda (D'Aurora) Rafle. He passed away on Monday, June 18, 2012 at Southwest Memorial Hospital in Cortez, Colo. at the age of 54. On May 23, 1981, John married Laurie Rae Blymiller in Barnes, Penn. John was a part of many groups and organizations. He held the distinctive rank of Eagle Scout with Troop #109 in Erie, Penn. He was a past member of the Aurora Education Association as well as the Colorado Education Association and the National Education Association. John also belonged to the Ben Lamonde Gun Club and the Gold Wing Riders Association. John spent many years teaching at Hinkley High School in Aurora. He began his career as a teacher, then becoming Dean, and finally, John held the position of assistant principal. In his free time, John enjoyed hunting, camping, motorcycling, and most importantly, being with his family. Surviving John are his wife of 31 years, Laurie Blymiller Rafle of Centennial, Colo.; his daughters, Caroline Josephine Rafle of Lincoln, Neb. and Hannah Isabel Rafle of Centennial, Colo.; and his siblings, Harry David Rafle and wife, Diane of Edinboro, Penn., and Mary Ann Goff and husband, Stephen of Durango, Colo. John was preceded in death by his parents. Cremation has taken place and services will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made in John Rafle's name to Boy Scout Troop #109, 7580 Hamot Road, Erie, PA 16509.
