JOHN J. "JACK" HARTY Funeral Mass for Summit Ridge resident John J. "Jack" Harty will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, November 25 at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church in Dolores. Interment will take place at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday afternoon at Dove Creek Cemetery. Reverend Joseph L. Gallegos, C.R. will officiate. Rosary services will be held at 7 p.m. on Monday, November 24 at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church. Jack was born on March 29, 1926 in Brooklyn, N.Y. the son of Maurice Francis and Katherine Dempra (McLaughlin) Harty. He passed away on Saturday, November 22, 2008 at his home at the age of 82. A "builder of bridges," Jack was employed by U.S. Steel as a Civil Engineer. He was a caring father and husband, and Jack was very generous with his time to his church and community. Surviving Jack are his wife, Mary Harty of Summit Ridge; and his children, Ellen Warren and husband, Dan of Dove Creek, Michael Harty and wife, Liz of Proctor, Minn., Anne DeJong and husband, Andy of Hesperus, Colo., and Elizabeth Werling and husband, Martin of Pittsburgh, Penn. Jack also leaves behind his grandchildren, Adam Warren, Erin Anne Warren, Emily Warren Daves, Sarah Warren Combs, Virginia Anne DeJong, Elizabeth Mary DeJong, Amy Harty, Kyra Harty, Emilie Lou Werling, Jack Francis Werling, and Samuel Joseph Werling; his great-grandchildren, McKenzie Bonnett, Andrew Joseph Daves, and Haley Catherine Daves; and his brother, Walter Harty and wife, Alice of Kiowa, Colo. Jack was preceded in death by his parents. Memorial contributions may be made in Jack's memory to the building fund at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church.
