JOHN HOWARD SEARLE John Howard Searle of Great Falls, Montana passed away suddenly on Thursday, February 24, 2005 at the age of 48. He was born August 3, 1956 in Colorado Springs, Colorado. John was the son of long-time Cortez residents Charles and Elizabeth Searle. Raised in Cortez, John graduated from Montezuma Cortez High School in 1975. He obtained a degree in farm and ranch management from Colorado Mountain College in Glenwood Springs, Colorado, as well as an additional associate degree from the University of Nebraska in Curtis, Nebraska. His love of large animals led to a 26-year career in animal husbandry. John was a veterinary technician and obtained state-board licenses in the states of Montana, Wyoming, Kansas and Nebraska. Recent years found John working with livestock in the Big Sky Country of Montana, which was his love. Surviving John are his loving parents, Charles and Elizabeth Searle of Cortez; his brothers Charlie Searle and wife, Julie of Denver, Colorado and Tom Searle and wife, Cathy of New River, Arizona; and his sister, Ann Philpott and husband, Cam of Denver, Colorado. John is also survived by 5 nieces and nephews, several aunts, uncles and cousins. Memorial contributions can be made in Memory of John Searle, c/o the American Heart Association, 600 Central Avenue, Suite 219, Great Falls, MT 59401. Donors can designate the funds to be used for “Community Health and Education.” A memorial service will be held for John on Saturday, April 9, 2005 at 2:00 p.m. at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church in Cortez. His ashes will be scattered on a private ranch in Montana. Family and friends are invited to attend a reception in the Parish Hall following the services.
