JOHN ERNEST BERTOGLIO John Ernest Bertoglio passed away at St. Mary's Hospital in Grand Junction, Colo. on Thursday, May 21, 2015. He was born the son of Batt John Bertoglio and Mildred Violet (Reiss) Bertoglio on December 27, 1927 in Los Angeles, Calif. A 1946 graduate from Garfield High School in East Los Angeles, John served in the U.S. Army from 1946 to 1948 during the Korean War. On August 7, 1954 John married Gloria Louise Anderson in Pasadena, Calif. He worked as a field clerk for California Water Source Company, a company that he was employed by for 42 years until his retirement. During that time John owned a race horse and enjoyed running it. Panning for gold was a favorite pastime of John's. He was a member of the Gold Prospectors Club and the Elks Lodge. John also enjoyed fishing and playing golf and baseball as well as gardening. He had a knack for raising tomatoes and zucchini. John was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Surviving John are his wife of 60 years, Gloria Bertoglio of Cortez; two daughters, Lori Shearer and husband, Cameron of Cortez, and Lisa Pierce also of Cortez; three grandchildren, Brian John Pardo of Arizona, Jennifer Story and Kristin Pierce both of Cortez; and three great grandchildren, Brian Richard Pardo, Natalie Rose Pardo, and Brooks Bertrand Story. John was preceded in death by his parents; and his sister, Mary Rose Metz. Private funeral and interment services are being held.
