John Dennis Bright

A celebration of life for John Dennis Bright will be held at 4:00 PM on Sunday, July 23, at Connection Christian Church in Odessa, TX. John was born in Odessa on November 22, 1990, to Tracey Scown (Worley) and Dennis Bright. He passed away in Dolores, CO, on Sunday, July 9, 2023, at the age of 32.

John is survived by his parents, along with his siblings, Robyn Bright, Houston and Brittany Bright, Mikky and Brooke Scown, Ginger Corey, and Brandie Scown, as well as a multitude of loving aunts, uncles, cousins, and other extended family members. He is preceded in death by all of his grandparents.

John spent his last few years laying the foundation for a home in East Texas near cousins, Brian Pace and Dana (Doc) Arroway, who were also like siblings. John worked his whole life to build a strong foundation in all things. He struggled, like all of us, but made deep connections with the people he loved. John was a Veteran and served his country in the Naval Nuclear Program for 6 years. He had a thorough history of service before enlisting and was happy to volunteer everywhere, from the local food bank to building houses in Mexico and Louisiana for those in need. He was an incredibly creative and talented soul, focusing his depth on music and the myriad of instruments he was able to master, but he always came back to his first love: sitting around singing and playing the acoustic guitar. John was the person you could count on in all things: a listening ear late at night, a helping hand in the middle of the day, a goofy outburst to break up the silence, and sensible advice at all hours except when someone messed with his baby sister. He had a truly profound outlook on life and will be deeply missed by many.
