JOEL BRENT JOHNSON A remembrance service for Joel Johnson will be held on Saturday, November 9 at 2 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church. Interment will follow at Cortez Cemetery. Visitation has been scheduled for Saturday from 10-11:30 a.m. at Ertel Memorial Chapel. Joel was born the son of Floyd and Joyce Johnson on March 29, 1962 in Bemidji, Minn. He passed away in an accident that took his mortal life on Thursday, October 31, 2013 at age 51. Joel was dearly loved by his wife and family, but as we tell our stories we realized he was the quiet strength that helped us all to share that love for each other. As for his love, he held nothing back for Renee, their children and grandchildren, his mom and dad, and his brother and sister and their families. As for his friends, his loyalty was remarkable. Those who called Joel a friend knew the lengths he would go to support and care for them without others knowing. Joel worked for Nielsons/Skanska for 30 years and was employed by them at his untimely death. We thank the company for giving him the opportunities to use his skills. He started as a general laborer, Oiler, and Superintendant of the Hot Plant. His years of experience and knowledge will be missed. Joel loved the outdoors whether it was hunting, fishing, four wheeling and snowmobiling with Renee and family, and his many friends. Joel found that he could "re-charge his batteries" in God's great creation. Yes, Joel was a man of quiet faith. He believed his salvation was secure in the life of Jesus Christ our Lord. It may have been a quiet faith but it is what made his approach to life that much more secure. As a family we will grieve, but we will tell our stories to remember him. Please join us in that opportunity by joining in the service of remembering for Joel. Surviving Joel are his wife of almost 13 years, Renee Johnson; children, Shelby Buffington and Brittney Jones and husband, Bud; grandchildren, Michele Coyote-Buffington, Kailee Buffington, Kael Buffington, and Connor Buffington; parents, Floyd and Joyce Johnson; brother, Jay Johnson and wife, Polly; sister, Jody Fladeland and husband, Roy; nieces, Brandi Lund and husband, James, Krystal and husband, Teran and Ashley and husband, John; and nephews, Chase McCall, Chance McCall, Levi Johnson and wife, Hannah, Miles Johnson, Nolan Johnson, Jesse Johnson and wife, Nora, and Cody Fladeland.
