JOE WALLACE AULSTON Graveside services for Joe Wallace Aulston, former Yellow Jacket resident, will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 20 at Fairview Cemetery. Military Honors will be provided by Ute Mountain American Legion Post #75. Joe was born November 14, 1917 in Randlette, Okla. the youngest of nine children of Luther and Effie (Knowles) Aulston. He passed away on June 10, 2009 in Bolivar, Mo. at the age of 91. The Aulston family moved to Yellow Jacket, Colo. when Joe was 9 years old. As a young man he and his brothers enjoyed the sport of boxing. He served in WWII as a heavy equipment operator and driver. After the war he married Goldie Imel and they had 3 children, they were married 23 years. Joe was a farmer around the Pleasant View area. He loved rock hounding and fishing at Lake Powell, Ariz. during that time. Later he moved to Apache Junction, Ariz. where he met Lola Rassmussen. They had a few rentals and all the renters and neighbors always thought Joe was a "great fun guy". He loved fishing and raising flowers and citrus fruit trees. His favorite flower was a rose. In 1998 he started spending his summers in Stockton, Mo. with Cheryle and Ken Lucius where he loved gardening. Surviving Joe are his children, Cheryle Lucius, Earl Aulston and Dixie Cherry, their spouses, Ken Lucius, Patricia Aulston and Bob Cherry; grand children, Damien, Amy and Devin Lucius, Desiree Campbell, Carissa Freeman, Kara Littleton, Marshall and Sterling Aulston; and great grandchildren, Hannah and Jacob Lucius, Andrew, Joey, and Michael Chesebro and Owen, Gabrielle and Luke Littleton. He has many wonderful nieces, nephews and cousins in the area as well.
