Joe Marion Beene

JOE MARION BEENE Joe Marion Beene was born on August 27, 1933 in Wellington, Texas, the son of John Franklin and Rosetta (Beard) Beene. He passed away on Friday, December 29, 2006 at his residence at the age of 73. On March 22, 1973, Joe married Donna Acott in Cortez. He spent his life as an “all around cowboy,” enjoying all the activities and responsibilities that came with the title. He had worked for the Suckla family, Keesee Motor Company, and Nielsons Inc. He loved time spent outdoors and fishing. Surviving Joe are his wife of 33 years, Donna Lea Beene of Yellow Jacket; and his children, Penny Vidakovich and husband, Leigh of Peyton, Colo., and Joan Peters and husband, Shawn of Ukiah, Calif., LeAnn Higgins and husband, Danny of Dolores, and Keith Hindmarsh and Alesha Tozer of Cortez. Joe also leaves behind his sister, Lucille Godfrey of Montrose, Colo.; his ex-daughter-in-law, Brenda Hindmarsh of Cortez; his grandchildren, Maygen Ives and husband, Luke, Weston Willey, Dalton and Logan Hindmarsh, Bradly Apple, Matt and Lauren Black, Heath and Lori Higgins, and Allen and Amanda Higgins; his great-grandchildren, Chase and Cutter Higgins, Ryder Higgins, Shaylin Willey, and a baby boy on the way. He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Kent Hindmarsh; his siblings, Ardella Shepard, Shirley Simpson and J.D. Beene; and his grandson, Michael. Memorial contributions may be made in Joe’s memory to the Dolores State Bank. Cremation has taken place and no services are planned at Joe’s request.
