Joe Lloyd Cornett

JOE "SCOTTY" LLOYD CORNETT Memorial services for lifelong area resident Joe "Scotty" Lloyd Cornett will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, December 19 at the Cortez First Baptist Church. Chaplain Marvin Graves will officiate. Joe was born November 12, 1929 in Hereford, Tex. the son of Harold Lloyd and Velma Lee (Hughes) Cornett. He passed away at his Cortez home on Saturday, December 14, 2013. Joe was 84 years old. An exceptional athlete, Joe was an avid bowler and square dancer. He loved constructing homes; building numerous homes in the area including his own. Not only was Joe a talented builder but he also excelled as a mechanic. He enjoyed time spent in the outdoors hunting and snowmobiling. Surviving Joe are his three children, Jim Cornett and wife, Anne, Don Cornett and wife, Dee, and Terri Cornett-Rule all of Cortez; by nine grandchildren, Josh, Preston, Joe, Misty, Randon, Nichole, Sonny, Brooke and Tori; by nine great grandchildren, Devyn, Alexis, Alyssa, Darren, Dylan, Tyler, Jordan, Scarlet and Chessa; and by many cousins and friends.
