Joaquin Garcia

Joaquin Garcia, 64, of Cortez, CO passed away July 2, 2021 in Colorado Springs, CO. He was born July 13, 1957 to Juan and Celeadia Garcia in Carocos, CO.
Joaquin was raised on a working farm, attended high school in Pagosa Springs, worked as a heavy equipment operator for Montezuma County until his disability in 2010. Before his disability, Joaquin looked forward to his weekends of team roping with friends and the great outdoors. He was always looking for the next adventure. After his disability he focused on family, friends, and caring for his yard. He still enjoyed the drives through the mountains, but his favorite stop was to see how things were on the Glade. Joaquin had love for nature and all its blessings. He will truly be missed.
Joaquin is survived by his spouse, Rejeania Lackey; his sisters, Grace Carpenter, Gloria Carpenter, Christine Lujan, and Linda Lujan; his brothers, Andy Garcia, and Marion Valpondo; his son, Lando Garcia; three stepchildren; and seven grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his mother, Celeadia; his father, Juan; and his brothers, Margarito Garcia, and Joe Garcia.
Memorial services will be held Saturday, July 31, 2021 at the Mesa Trails Cowboy Church, Mancos, CO at 11 a.m.
