Joanne Marie Belcher

JOANNE MARIE BELCHER Graveside inurnment services for longtime Cortez resident Joanne Marie Belcher will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, June 5 at Cortez Cemetery. Joanne was born December 14, 1928 in Cortez the daughter of Frank and Leona (Truelson) Humphreys. She passed away at Southwest Memorial Hospital on Wednesday, June 3, 2009 at the age of 80. Joanne married William Leslie Belcher and to this union were born four children, JoAlice, Kelly, Terry and Jana. A hard working woman, Joanne inherited the ranching operation when Bill passed away. She and the children continued to raise cattle and chickens. Joanne loved time spent in her vegetable garden. She spent so much time there that she filled it with flowers so that it would be a beautiful area. Joanne's home was always open to anyone stopping by. There was food and there was conversation, she made everyone feel welcomed. Surviving Joanne are her children, JoAlice Belcher, Kelly Belcher, Terry Belcher and Jana Belcher all of Cortez; by three brothers, George Humphreys of Cortez, Frank Humphreys and wife, Linda of Cortez, and Gayle Humphreys and wife, Celia of Lake Havasu, Ariz.; by her brother-in-law, Bert Ray of Cortez; and by a large extended family. Joanne was preceded in death by her husband, William Belcher; her parents; and by her siblings, Buddy Humphreys, Alice Humphreys, Artys Habig, and Karyl McCuthceon.
