JIMMIE WAYNE KING Graveside services for longtime area resident Jimmie Wayne King will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday, April 27 at Summit Ridge Cemetery. Jim was born May 4, 1930 in Childress, Tex. the son of Newell and Mary Ella (Allan) King. He passed away on Monday, April 25, 2016 at his residence in Lewis at the age of 85. Jim served his country in the Korean War. In 1968 he and his wife, Beulah bought and ran the El Grande Caf with their daughters until 1980 when they retired from the restaurant business. Jim could not stand not to be working so he started King's Backhoe Service; he ran the business until 2007. Jim also enjoyed taking care of his farm. He was a brave man all through life. Surviving Jim are his children, Sharon Lindsay (Kent) of Cortez, Gisele Porter (Nate) of Lewis, Yvonne King Alexander (Jimmy) of Cortez, and Glenda Alexander (Woody) of Cortez; his grandchildren, Cristie Porter, Brandon Porter (Tonya) Meranda Dry (Derik), Matthew Lindsay (Wendy), Justin Lindsay (Kaylene), Linn Alexander, and Kyle Alexander; seven great-grandchildren with one on the way; his brother, Neilson King of Cortez; and numerous nieces and nephews. Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Newell and Mary Ella King; his wife, Beulah; his brothers, Doyle, Owen, Orville, Quenton "Mike", Oford, Obert, Glenn and Murvin; and by his sisters, Mattie, Evelyn, Ada Odell and Ruth.
