JIMMIE DWIGHT HACKETT Funeral services for lifelong Cortez resident Jimmie Dwight Hackett will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, August 14 at the Church of the First Born, 6188 Road 25, south of Cortez. Interment will follow at the Arriola Cemetery. Mr. Doug Carver will officiate. Jim was born August 31, 1935 in Wendell, Idaho the son of James Leroy and Alice Fern (Niccum) Hackett. He passed away on Friday, August 8, 2008 at his residence at the age of 72. On February 25, 1961, Jim married Lorene Elnora McCall in Cortez. Jim devoted 35 years as a tow boat captain on the Mississippi River. He loved to read and was very active in helping his children with their business ventures. Surviving Jim are his children, Deana Carr and husband, Mike of Cortez; Marcia Reichenau and husband, Mark of Cortez, Howard Hackett of Parachute, Colo., Wendell Hackett of Cortez, Rhonda Tracy and husband, Nick of Henderson, Nev., Stanley Hackett and wife, Calinda of Cortez, Karen Stifel and husband, Jon of Priest River, Idaho, and Amanda Hackett of Cortez; 17 grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. He also leaves behind his siblings, Norman Hackett of Cortez, Eunice Wall of Cortez, Opal "Dee" Smith of Ridgeway, Mo., Richard Hackett and wife, Patricia of Cortez, Clayton Hackett of Arizona, and Violet Gray of Cortez. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Lorene Hackett, his siblings, Bernard Hackett and Elsie Pittman; and his brother-in-law, Dean Gray.
