Jessie Fern Ayers

Funeral service for longtime Cahone resident, Jessie Fern Ayers, will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, December 30 at First Baptist Church, Dove Creek. Interment will follow in Cahone Cemetery. Pastor Sam Thompson will officiate. Jessie was born August 30, 1917 in Sand Springs, Okla, the daughter of Alvea and Alice Rosana Williams Toles. She passed away on Wednesday, December 23, 2015 at Vista Grand Inn at the age of 98. On September 7, 1935, Jessie married Clyde William Ayers in Cahone, Colo. She was a member of the First Baptist Church and spent 20 years employed with the Dolores County School District as bus driver and cook. Jessie enjoyed gardening, homemaking and taking care of all the grandkids. Jessie is survived by her daughter, Phyllis Barnett and daughter-in-law, Julia Ayers both of Cahone; her seven grandchildren; her nineteen great grandchildren and her numerous great grandchildren. Jessie was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, three children, Willadean Beanland, Norman Ayers and baby boy, Alvea William Ayers; and her siblings: Carl Toles, Lavona Luce, Ruby Medley, Marion Toles and Claudie Toles.
