JESSIE ANN BITSILLY Funeral services for lifelong Aneth, Utah resident, Jessie Ann Bitsilly will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, September 14 at the Ertel Memorial Chapel. Interment will follow at the Cortez Cemetery. Jessie was born on August 28, 1922 in Aneth the daughter of Hosteen Bitsilly and Mary Lansing. She passed away on Saturday, September 10 at the Vista Grande Nursing Home at the age of 83. Jessie was known as a generous and kind woman who took in those who were in need. This included adults and children alike; resulting in raising many children who weren’t her own. Jessie was a Christian woman who accepted all religions. She was a hard worker and accomplished bead worker who enjoyed making cedar berry necklaces. Among many other things, Jessie was a wonderful storyteller. She was also a linguist speaking Navajo, Ute and English. She expressed her pride when speaking about her grandson Randy who is in the U.S. Navy stationed in South Carolina. Surviving Jessie are her children, Barbara Y. Whitehorse and husband, Jimmie Y. Sr. of Montezuma Creek, Utah, and Curtis B. White of Phoenix, Ariz.; her grandchildren, Ryan Yazzie Whitehorse, Clarissa Marie Nocki and husband, Amos, Sr., Randy Ray Whitehorse, Jamie Marie Whitehorse, and Jimmie Y. Whitehorse Jr.; her great-grandchildren, Rashaun Nelson Nocki, and Amos Nocki Jr.; as well as many nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death were her parents; her children, Richard Craig Smiley, Darlene, Herman, Irmy and Jerry; and her siblings, Frank Bitsilly, Mary Jay, David Bitsilly, Dorothy Jane Bitsilly Myerson, and Esther B. Morse.
