JERRY LEE COLLINS A celebration of life for Cortez resident Jerry Lee Collins will be held at 3 p.m. on Monday, July 26 at the Lewis Arriola Community Center. Jerry was born October 19, 1949 in Boise, Ida. the son of Clyde Harvey and Faye Lorene (Phillips) Collins. He passed away at his Cortez home on Thursday, July 15, 2010 at the age of 60. Jerry was employed as a carpenter all over the United States, including carpentry on a shrimp boat in Florida. Jerry was a "free spirit" and "mountain man" at heart. He enjoyed time hunting, fishing and gathering arrow heads. Jerry never met a stranger. Surviving Jerry are his father, Clyde Harvey Collins of Cortez; his mother, Faye Stevenson DeVore of Cortez; and his partner, Patricia Parga and her family of Cortez. Jerry also leaves behind his siblings, Jim Collins and wife, Brenda of Phoenix, Ariz., Deborah Rice and husband, Lyle of Cortez, Joe Stevenson and wife, Connie of Mancos, and Mike Stevenson of Mancos; and by numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. Memorial contributions may be made in Jerry's name to Dolores State Bank.
