JERRY GLENN "PARD" McEUEN A Celebration of Life for Cortez resident Jerry Glenn "Pard" McEuen will be held at 12 p.m. on Sunday, September 29 at Lewis Arriola Community Center. Following the celebration a potluck will be held. The family is asking that everyone come dressed casually and bring a covered dish as the meat will be furnished. Jerry G. "Pard" McEuen passed away at his home in Cortez on Friday, September 13, 2013 at the age of 74. He was born June 22, 1939 in Safford, Ariz. to Glenn and Christine (Kartchner) McEuen. To all who knew and loved Jerry he was indeed a rare, unique individual. He lived his life as he wanted: as a "cowboy". He never punched a time clock or packed a lunch box. He worked hard from sunrise to sunset for little or no money but great satisfaction for a job well done. He worked for outfits from New Mexico to Alaska, and helped any friend in need along the way. His word was his bond, and with a firm handshake you could count on it being done. Jerry was an avid reader and loved to take pictures of dogs, horses and cattle. Surviving Jerry are his wife, Jackie Nelson; children, Jim McEuen, May Nix, April Fulfer, Shawna McEuen, Joy Martin, Tom Hafley, Leonard Hafley, Ty Hafley, Casey Hafley, Jimmy Remondini, Deanna Finch and Jerry Remondini; 26 grandchildren; several aunts and uncles especially Percilla Clark, Robert Kartchner, Eddie Kartchner and Delroy Kartchner; and numerous cousins especially Paul Dean Kartchner, Keith Kartchner, Clell Kartchner and Rosene Perry. He was preceded in death by his parents, Glenn and Christine McEuen. In lieu of flowers, a memorial account has been set up at Vectra Bank. Part of the money accumulated through this fund will be donated to the Ute Mountain Ute High School Rodeo Team and the rest will be used to help Jerry's family defray the cremation expenses.
