Jefferson Davis "J.D." Knuckles

Jefferson Davis Knuckles was born November 19, 1935 in rural San Miguel County to Tom and Tina Knuckles. He passed away on May 21, 2017 at the age of 81. Jeff married Marilyn McConnel on March 22, 1959 in Cortez, Colorado. They shared 57 years of marriage. Early in their marriage they made their home in many different places while Jeff was employed by General Dynamics Astronautics Corp and Grumman Aircraft Engineering Corporation. They moved back to the Dove Creek area in 1971. Jeff farmed, worked for Umetco and was self employed as an electrician. They enjoyed Square Dancing, outdoor activities fishing, camping, exploring scenic back roads on 4-wheelers. He is survived by his children; Brent Knuckles of Cortez, Jeff (Brenda) Knuckles of Aurora, Colorado, Rod Knuckles of Buckeye, Arizona, Machelle (Neil) Jones of Dove Creek and Stacy (Aaron) Hankins of Dove Creek. Grandchildren; Brenda Knuckles, Maranda Jones, Rachel Phillips, Erik Knuckles, Corbie Maestas, Felicity Jones, Dalton Knuckles, Shilo Knuckles, Taylor Hankins, Ramsey Knuckles, Amy Knuckles, Alishia Knuckles, Lance Knuckles, Madilyn Hankins, Kade Hankins, six great-grandchildren, two brothers and five sisters. He is preceded in death by his wife Marilyn in 2016; his parents and a younger sister. Funeral services will be held Thursday, May 25th at Peel Cemetery at 2:00 p.m. with a viewing on Wednesday May 24th from 5 to 6 p.m. at Ertel Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to the Peel Cemetery District.
