Jeanne was born on August 23, 1933 in Kansas City, Mo. She passed away on Sunday, September 7, 2008 at Vista Grande Rehabilitation Facility in Cortez at the age of 75. Two weeks after Jeanne was born her father and mother, Edward J. and A. They chose Jeanne, picked her up from her crib, and took her home. Jeanne grew up in Chariton attending the local schools. Following high school Jeanne attended Carleton College in Northfield, Minn. Two years later in 1953, she transferred to the University of Iowa in Iowa City, Iowa. Within the first month she met a fellow student, Carmen Miller. Both of them knew that day that they had found their life partner. Carmen graduated from the university in 1955 and they moved to Des Moines, Iowa where they lived until September 1999 when they moved to Cortez, Colo. Jeanne became a member of the Lutheran Church upon marriage. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Cortez. Jeanne was a lifelong homemaker but she had many interests. Jeanne was a porcelain ceramist with her studio in the home. She also knit stocking caps by the hundreds and hundreds for the underprivileged and homeless in the Des Moines area as well as for the Native Americans living on the Pine Ridge Reservation at Pine Ridge, S.D. Surviving Jeanne are her husband, Carmen Miller of Cortez; her children, Scott Miller and wife, Yuriko of Durango, Colo., and Karlan Sue Sheeran of Cortez; and her granddaughters, Caitlin and Maggie Sheeran of Cortez. She was preceded in death by her parents; and her daughter, Marie Miller. She is missed!
