Jean Vanhoutean Roach

September 9, 1932 — July 13, 2011

JEAN "FLIP" VANHOUTEAN ROACH Jean "Flip" Vanhoutean Roach was born on September 25, 1932 in Fort Smith, Ark. the daughter of Clinton H. and Johnny Mae (Campbell) Reid. She passed away on Wednesday, July 13, 2011 at Southwest Memorial Hospital at the age of 78. Jean owned and operated Jean's Drive Inn in Montezuma Creek, Utah for 23 years. She made the best hamburger in the Four Corners area, just ask all the oil field "trash". Jean loved being with people and in her spare time she enjoyed bowling and doing crossword puzzles. Surviving Jean are her children, Don Vanhoutean and wife, Sandi of Cortez, and Karen Burgess of Phoenix, Ariz.; her granddaughter, Karissa Burgess of Newberry, Cali.; her sisters, Betty King and husband, Howard of Whitefield, Okla., Faye Herring and husband, Lawson of Tulsa, Okla.; and many nieces and nephews who she dearly loved. Jean was preceded in death by her parents; by her husbands, Doyle Vanhoutean and Chet Roach; her brother, Clinton Reid, Jr.; her sisters, Mary Johnson and Ruby Greenwood; and by her brother-in-law, Wes Greenwood. Cremation has taken place and no services are planned. Memorial contributions may be made in Jean's name to either Madison House 120 S. Madison St, Cortez or Southwest Memorial Hospital ICU 1311 N. Mildred Road, Cortez.
