Jean Johnson

ALLORA JEAN JOHNSON Allora Jean Johnson passed away peacefully at her home in Dolores on March 27, 2011. Jean was born to Robert L. and Lennie Ann Casey in Lockney, Texas on February 25, 1926. She married the love of her life, Jacob "Jake" Johnson on November 4, 1943. They moved to the Dolores River valley in 1949 where they raised their children, and together they farmed in the Groundhog Reservoir area for fifteen years, then contracted tree planting for another five years, until 1971 when Jake's unexpected death ended the honeymoon. Throughout her life, Jean was actively involved in community affairs, her church, and square dancing. She was still actively square dancing at age 84, and was honored by the square dance club in 2010 with an award for her many years of service to square dancing. She loved cooking, caring for others, and offering free herbal advice. She also delighted in offering her Reike and Reflexology. She had a lovely sense of humor (evidenced by her ability to put up with the practical jokes of her sons for her entire life). But her church and her family remained in the forefront of her heart. She is survived by, and will be dearly missed by, her sons Lloyd (fianc Sheryl) and Larry (wife Darlene) of Dolores, daughter Rhonda of Eaton, and daughter Veta of Livermore, daughter-in-law Joy Steerman (husband Don) of Dolores, six grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her loving husband Jake, son Dale and son-in-law Charlie Mitchell. Her warm and caring spirit will remain in our hearts and our memories.
