Jean Goodhue

June 3, 1927 — April 25, 2014

JEAN GOODHUE Memorial services for Cortez resident Jean Goodhue will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, April 28 at the Cortez Christian Church. Minister Charles Story will officiate. Jean Goodhue was born on a kitchen table at her families homestead in Scranton, N.D. on June 3, 1927 to Alma Rholck Schaar and Fred O. Schaar. She came from a family of three brothers and three sisters. At the age of 17 she married the love of her life, Norman Goodhue and together they worked their family farm for 30 years until 1978 when they retired to Glendale, Ariz. Jean and Norman lived in Arizona for 20 years until moving to Cortez, Colo. in 1996 where they could be close to their two daughters. Norman and Jean were married 53 years when he went to be with the Lord in March of 1997. Jean had always been a teacher for adult Sunday school classes and was always inspired to do the Lord's work. She began missionary services and traveled to Cuba, Mexico, Argentina, Philippines, Ireland, Guatemala and Australia, preaching and spreading the Gospel. She came home to stay in 2008 and spent much time involved with the Christian Church. She loved painting, poetry, the mountains and most of all her Heavenly Father. Jean is survived by one sister, Virginia Pedeliski of Bismarck, N.D. She and Norman have three children from their union, Adrian Goodhue and wife, Cheri, Terri Likes and husband, Bob, and Lynne Gilge and husband, David; grand children, John Goodhue, Troy Fuhrman, Delvin Fuhrman, Jeff Goodhue, Kimberly Rule, Michelle Cate and Greg Gilge; step grandchildren, Scott Grierson, Stacy Grover, Lana Waters, Les Likes and Brett Likes; great grandchildren, Kirsten Goodhue, Randia Rule, Chase Rule, Kelsey Cate, and Carter, Riley and Spencer Gilge; step grandchildren, Cassie Grover, Mike NeKase, Kyler and Braden Faulk, Tiffani and Ryan Waters, and Jessie, Cody, Bobbie, and Lizzie Likes, Korie Likes and Missy Kellison; and great great grandchild, BreaLynn Kellison. We remember our mother's prayers for all of her loved ones including future generations that they would always seek the Lord in all they do to receive his blessings, grace and mercy. Memorial contributions may be made to Community Bank of Colorado, 1438 E. Main Street, Cortez, Colo. 81321. All gifts to this account will benefit the Christian Missionary Fund, which was close to Jean's heart.
