Jean Gallegos

Funeral services for Cortez resident Jean Gallegos will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, November 9, 2018 at Evangel Assembly of God Church. Visitation will take place at the end of the service. Pastor Jeff McDonell will officiate. Interment will follow at Cortez Cemetery.
Jean Gallegos was born on August 11, 1940 to Eulegio Jose and Sorida Delgado (Montano) Gallegos in McFee, Colorado.
Jean grew up in the Summit Ridge and Dolores area with her family and was well known by many neighbors’ and friends. When she was 16 the family moved to Arriola where Jean started her first job with Lois and Bill Rutledge as a baby sitter. Jean loved sports. She was an avid baseball player, softball player and bowler. She won many trophies for her bowling skills.
At the age 22 Jean moved to Amarillo Texas to start a job with Affiliated Foods Warehouse. She worked there for approximately 20 years and enjoyed her job very much. After leaving Affiliated Foods Warehouse Jean started working for one of the first Waffle Houses ever built in the Amarillo area waiting tables. It was a good fit for Jean because she loved to visit, but loved to listen even more. She retired from Waffle House in 2004 and moved back to Cortez, CO to live with her sister Cordie Walton, where she lived until the time of her death.
Jean was preceded in death by her parents; her brother Ben Gallegos, her brother Filbert Gallegos and Sister Carlota Aguilar (Gallegos).
Jean is survived by sisters, Mary Archibeque, Alice Archibeque, Corrdie Walton, and Jan Oaks. Jean is also survived by her brothers, Adolph Gallegos, Freddie Gallegos, and Danny Gallegos.
