Jean Fischer

JEAN FISCHER Memorial services for longtime Dolores resident Jean Fischer will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, March 3, 2008 at the Johnson Memorial Methodist Church in Dolores. Jean was born on March 4, 1929 in Yuma, Colo. the daughter of Orval James and Zell (Slater) Cook. She passed away on Thursday, February 28, 2008 at the Heart Hospital of New Mexico in Albuquerque at the age of 78. On August 14, 1947, Jean married Bill K. Fischer in Cedaredge, Colo. The couple shared 61 years of marriage. Jean was an active, longstanding member of the Johnson Memorial Methodist Church. She belonged to the U.M.W. Outreach Circle and participated in the Soup Kitchen. Jean was an active member of her community. She was a wonderful cook whose specialties included apple pie and strawberry jam. Jean's family brought her much happiness. Surviving Jean are her husband, Bill Fischer; her sons, Pat and Mike Fischer; her daughter, Sherry Holton; five grandsons, Aaron, Andrew, and Jerod Holton, and Zane and Nate Fischer; and two great-granddaughters, Sydney and Jesse Holton. She was preceded in death by her parents; an infant son; two brothers, Bobby and Merlyn Cook; and two sisters, Lola Pierce and Zelma Morris.
