Jean Anne Alexander

October 1, 1958 — January 10, 2019

Funeral services for lifelong Mancos resident, Jean Ann Alexander, will be held at 10 am on Friday, January 25, 2019 at the Mancos United Methodist Church; reception to follow.
Jean Ann was born on October 1, 1958 in Cortez, Colorado to George and Thyra Hershberger. She married the love of her life, Brent Alexander, on August 12, 1977.
Growing up she moved all over the Southwestern portion of the United States as well as Puerto Rico with her family. In addition to her parents, this included two brothers and a sister.
Jean Ann enjoyed many things, but most of all her family. Once she became a grandmother it became her favorite occupation in life. In addition to family, she liked sewing, exploring the mountains, cooking, spending time with friends, and her dogs. She spent most of her time with her husband working on the ranch.
Most people think of Jean Ann as a kind and happy person. She was a member of the Mancos PEO, Mancos PTA, and Southwestern Cowbells.
Jean Ann enjoyed a good joke. One of her favorites was when her and her friends, as teenagers, played a joke on the Mancos Marshalls by hanging a dummy in the park. The trick backfired when she found this same dummy in her bed. She shared several laughs over the years in telling this story. Another well-known prank involved a stuffed calf head that was passed around many of the ranching families within the community.
She is survived by her husband, Brent Alexander, daughter, Brandy Goff and husband Steven, son Keith Alexander and wife Cassie, grandchildren Evan Goff and Addison Alexander, brother Eddie Hershberger and wife Cheryl, brother Jimmy Hershberger, brother-in-law Earl Olbert, numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins, as well as many friends and neighbors that Jean Ann considered family. She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Thyra Hershberger, sister, Nancy Olbert, and grandson, Jace Alexander.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in her name at The Dolores State Bank. These donations will be split between the Rose Hill Hospitality House in Grand Junction, Colorado and the Children’s Hospital in Denver, Colorado.
