JANET GAY GERLACH Memorial services for former area resident, Janet Gay Gerlach will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday, March 7 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints located at 1700 E. Empire. Private graveside services will later be held at Fairview Cemetery. Janet was born on May 18, 1950 to Leo C. and Joan L. (Humphreys) Maley in Cortez. She passed away on Tuesday, March 1, 2005 at her home in Fort Collins, Colo. at the age of 54. Janet first lived in Dove Creek with her parents, and then moved to Lewis. She married her high school sweetheart, Raymond G. Gerlach, on May 5, 1969, in Cortez. Janet was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints all of her adult life. She was proud to have served in the Denver Colorado Temple, and to have spent 2 1/2 years as a Church Educational System Missionary with her husband at the Ft. Collins Stake. Surviving Janet are her husband, Raymond G. Gerlach of Ft. Collins, Colo.; her mother, Joan L. Maley of Cortez; four brothers, Leo and Jr., of Tennessee; Dick, of Pecos, N.M., Tom, of Cortez, and Tim of Littleton, Colo.; one sister, Jill Dugan, of Denver, Colo.; three sons, Scott, of Sterling, Colo., Eric, of Ft. Collins, Kenneth, of Windsor, Colo.; her daughter Heidi J. Martinez of Ft. Collins; and 13 grandchildren. Preceding Janet in death were her father, Leo C. Maley; and brother, Butch.
