JAMES WILEY McCABE Funeral services for lifelong Mancos resident, James Wiley McCabe will be held on Monday, June 27, 2005 at 10 a.m. at the Mancos Volunteer Fire Department. Burial will follow the funeral at the Cedar Grove Cemetery. Reverend Bud Rousset will officiate. James was born on May 17, 1929 in Granath Mesa, Colo. to Blanche (Kuykendall) and Charles Thomas McCabe. He passed away at Southwest Memorial Hospital on June 20, 2005 at the age of 76. James married Ethel Doris Cruikshank on Feb. 12, 1955 in Aztec, N.M. They shared 42 years of marriage before her death on Nov. 14, 1999. He enjoyed a life of giving. He was a member and officer of the Mancos Volunteer Fire Department. James was one the department's first E.M.T.s. He was among the many who helped build Jackson Lake. James was employed by the Match Factory for 30+ years. In his spare time he enjoyed hunting, fishing and just being in the mountains. If anyone needed help, James was there. James is survived by his three children, Barbara Zeutzius and husband, Edward of Mancos, William James McCabe and wife, Lill of Bonners Ferry, Ida., Evelyn 'Susie' Small and husband, Gary of Mancos; two sisters, Catherine Pettinguill of Portland, Ore. and Mildred Pickens of Mancos; nine grandchildren, Stephanie Vallejos and husband, Mike of Mancos, Jennifer Zeutzius and husband, Andre Kocourek of Mancos, Stacy Kane and husband, Dustin of Mancos, Dawn Zeutzius of Mancos, Edward P. Zeutzius and wife, Daniell of Denver, Colo., Misty Small and husband, Kevin Judson of Moab, Utah, Cassie Small and husband, Jed Tallent of Mancos, Tiffany Small of Mancos, Kaylee McCabe of Bonners Ferry, Ida.; and 9 great-granchildren, Dante Vallejos, Shilo Vallejos, Tamaria Zeutzius, Hunter Kocourek, Hayden Kocourek, Matthew Kane, Jason Kane, Kelton Judson, and Jasmine Zeutzius. James was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Doris; brother, Joseph McCabe; sisters, Ruth Como, Irene Carver; and grandson, Anthony Vallejos. Memorial contributions may be made in James' name with the Mancos Valley Bank. Services are under the direction of the Ertel Funeral Home.
