JAMES "MONTE" JOHNSON Memorial services for lifelong area resident, James "Monte" Johnson will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, November 28, 2012 at the Dolores Fire Station in Dolores, Colo. A potluck will immediately follow the services at the fire station. Monte passed away on November 23, 2012 at Vista Grande Inn after many years of battling complications associated with diabetes. Monte was born in Cortez, Colo. on March 24, 1951 to James "Jimmy" Elbert Johnson and Dolores "Bebe" McEwen. He was preceded in death by his parents; infant twin brothers, Lloyd and Floyd; and his sister, Hazel Marie Supersad. Monte was a retired member of the Dolores Volunteer Fire Department. He was also a member of the Sons of America Legion and an Elk member. Surviving Monte are his brother Roger Hedges of Oregon; three children, Brandon Johnson and wife, Lori of Cortez, Pastor Chad Johnson of Pittsburgh, Penn., and Lindsay Johnson of Phoenix, Ariz. He is also survived by two grandsons, Savion and Gaberen Marquez of Phoenix and two step grandchildren, Kayla and Travis Watkins of Cortez. Memorial contributions can be made in memory of James "Monte" Johnson with the Dolores Fire Protection District, 85 Central Avenue, Dolores, Colo. 81323.
