James Frederick Lyons

JAMES FREDERICK LYONS James Frederick Lyons, beloved father, grandfather, and great-grandfather passed away on June 30, 2009, at the age of ninety-two. James moved to Cortez in 2003 from Fort Collins, Colorado, where he and his wife of fifty-eight years, Christine Sims Lyons, had lived for many years. He was a skilled artisan and created many lovely pieces of furniture as a hobby. He loved the outdoors and fly fishing. James was born in Ottumwa, Iowa, on November 29, 1916, and graduated from Iowa State University. He volunteered to serve in the Navy during World War II and took part in the Pacific theatre. He will be sadly missed by his daughters, Carolyn Brownrigg (Charles Brownrigg) from Arroyo Seco, New Mexico, Judge Sharon Hansen, (Dr. Karl Hansen) from Cortez. Grandchildren include: Alexander Hansen (Becky Hansen), Zachary Hansen, Eric Hansen, Craig Brownrigg (Andrea Blan), Christopher Brownrigg (Alison Brownrigg), and Clifton Brownrigg. His Great-grandchildren are Angus Stuart Brownrigg and Ruby Louise Brownrigg. Burial will take place in Ottumwa, Iowa. A private family memorial is planned for early August.
