James Jim Edward Gagneaux, was born to Sarah (Boudreaux) and Romain Gagneaux on January 16, 1928 in a happy household and passed away on July 17, 2018 at the age of 90. Jim married Rena Naquin on December 11, 1945 and was blessed with four children. He was drafted into the Army in 1946 after World War II and was discharged in 1948. He then went to work in the oil fields at the age of 20 to support his family. Jim went to work for Superior Oil Co. in 1948 in the drilling department along the coast of Louisiana; then was transferred to West Texas in 1967 for eight years. He was then in the Aneth field in 1976 for 10 years. In these 10 years he also helped in drilling in areas around Carlsbad, NM, Williston, ND, Dubois, WY and Bakersfield, CA. Jim took an early retirement as Lead Drilling Supervisor in 1986 after 38 years in the oil patch to enjoy his passion of fishing, camping and having Fish Fries for family and many friends for 32 enjoyable years. Jim was a member and vice president of Bauer Lake Fishing Club until he sold his membership in 2004. Jim was the last to go in his family of seven children, two sisters and six brothers preceded him in death along with his parents, and his son, Brent Gagneaux. He will be sadly missed by his wife, Rena of 72 years; and his children, James Gagneaux Jr. (Susie) of Lake Charles, LA, Debra Simmons (Jimmy) of Odessa, TX, and Kelly Gagneaux (Liz) of Cortez, CO; 9 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. Instead of flowers, Jim would have liked to help the homeless. In his name send contributions to The Bridge, PO Box 56, Cortez, CO 81321.
