JAMES CHARLES McCONNELL

James was born December 2, 1959 in the San Fernando Valley, CA, the son of Jane Dugan. On Saturday May 25, 2024 at the age of 64, James passed away in his home surrounded by family in Dolores, CO.

James was an avid hunter and fisherman with a passion for golf, snow skiing, motocross, bare-footing, water skiing, bike riding, ace serving, long boarding, calf roping, truck driving, rock crushing, hay growing, surf catching, BB-Qn’ and sushi making; but above all James was a husband, father, and friend. His ability to make people laugh left him with friends in the many places he traveled and worked. His knowledge made him a great mentor, coach, boss, and co-worker. From a young age he met challenges with stamina and took pride in his multitude of accomplishments. Shortly after High School (Sylmar High 1978) and chasing the snow of Arnold, CA, James found himself (with the help of friends) building his home of 26 years with his wife, Wendy, in Agua Dulce, CA.

“It was love at first sight, I saw his smile and I knew he was worth the wait. At the time he was into motorcycles not girls. He will be missed immensely,” explained Wendy (High School Sweetheart and Wife of 41 years).

His energy in life extended beyond the average which left him skilled in the many hobbies and activities he enjoyed taking up. He lived a large life and used every second.

“Walking on water for him was like riding a bicycle. He was my first best friend and instructor of all sports aforementioned (and then some). I knew then I was lucky to have worked with him and I’m especially grateful now,” said Mallorie (Daughter, nicknamed McConnell; “Because he writes his name on everything,” she laughed).

Surviving James are his spouse, Wendy in Dolores CO; his daughter and son-in-law, Mallorie and Josh of Albuquerque, NM. The family of his brother, Wade McConnell of Valencia, CA and his sister Anna Coons’ family of Acton, CA. As well as the many aunts, uncles, cobros, cousins, nieces and nephews. And of course; Buster Brown, Chester, Dipper, and Pretty Boy Floyd.

He will be greatly missed by many.
