JAKE RIFFEL Funeral services for longtime Mancos resident, Jake Riffel will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, November 13 at the Mancos Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Interment will follow at Cedar Grove Cemetery. Visitation has been set for Wednesday evening from 5 to 7 p.m. at Ertel Chapel. Jake was born September 10, 1921 in Fort Morgan, Colo. the third child of Jake Riffel Sr. and Anna Margaret (Lendhardt) Riffel. He passed away at his Mancos home on Thursday, November 6, 2008 at the age of 87. Jake was a bricklayer by trade and helped with the construction of buildings throughout the Four Corners area. He built Millwood Junction Restaurant in Mancos, which he owned for 31 years. He was also a silversmith, painter and photographer. In 1949 Jake married Roma Olena John in Mancos. Surviving Jake are his wife of 58 years, Roma Riffel of Mancos; four daughters, Jo Ann Riffel, Linda Riffel, Karen Noack and Dauna Beck; his grandchildren, Jim Reed, Laurie Aarts, Sean O'Brien, Sunshine Rogers, and Chelsa O'Brien; and by great grandchildren, Bradley Aarts, Danielle Aarts, and Nicholas Aarts. Also surviving Jake are a brother, Robert Riffel; sister, Sadie Hand; and numerous step grandchildren, and step great grandchildren. Memorial contributions can be made in memory of Jake Riffel to Alzheimer's Association, 701 Camino Del Rio., Ste 115A, Durango, Colo. 81301.
