JACOB WAYNE JETER A memorial potluck for lifelong Cortez resident Jacob Wayne Jeter will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, December 8 at the Old School House at Audrey Allmon's residence, 21101 Road G, Cortez. Jake was born on December 15, 1980 in Durango, Colo. to Lewis Edmond Jeter and Patricia Ann (Johnson) Pinkerton. He passed away on November 29, 2012 at his home at the age of 31. On July 12, 2008 Jake married Melissa Brooke Henderson in Cortez. Together they had two children, Harley and Gui. Jake was a loving father, brother and son. In his spare time, he enjoyed time spent outdoors camping, hunting and fishing. Jake also loved rodeo and moving cattle. Surviving Jake are his parents, Ed Jeter of Cortez, and Patty Pinkerton and husband, Sam of Mesquite, Nev.; his wife, Melissa Jeter of Cortez; his two children, Harley and Gui Jeter of Cortez; his siblings, Melisa Lukas and husband, Buster, Justin Jeter and girlfriend, Andrea, Chris Jeter and girlfriend, Leeanne Milligan, all of Cortez, Shandy Moore and husband, Chris of North Carolina, Kim Stevens and life partner, T of Birmingham, Alabama, and Katie Moon and husband, Kenny of Wray, Colo.; his grandparents, Dale Jeter and Jean Johnson both of Cortez; and special family friend, Audrey Allmon of Cortez. He also left behind numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. Jake was preceded in death by his grandparents on both family sides. Memorial contributions may be made in Jake's name to Dolores State Bank, 744 E. Main St., Cortez.
