A wake for lifelong Towaoc resident Jacob A. ‘Jake’ Colorow will be held at 6 p.m. Wednesday, July 24, 2019 at 1548 San Juan Turn, Towaoc, CO. Jake’s son, Walter Ridley will officiate.
Jake was born September 30, 1974 in Cortez, CO the son of Raymond Colorow and Janice Mills Lopez. He entered into rest on Friday, July 19, 2019 at Mercy Regional Medical Center in Durango, CO at the age of 44 to be with his Father and Son. Jacob was a one of a kind soul.
He served his Indian Country by working many jobs including working at the Casino as Bingo caller, First Responder Firefighter, EMT, Drug & Alcohol Counselor, and a Carpenter. At the age of 14 Jacob became a Sun Dancer, he then went as far as he could go. After his many years of working he became a world renowned singer and song maker. He then started traveling places, either alone or with his family. Everything Jacob did was done with a lot of passion, and always made sure his short drives or long drives were worthwhile for his enjoyment.
Jacob was a Son, Dad, Uncle, Grandpa to so many of his grandkids he cherished all of them. He is proceeded into rest by family and friends, and will be missed dearly. One of his favorite sayings was “The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing.”
Surviving Jake are his mother, Janice Mills Lopez of Towaoc, CO; his son, Walter Ridley of Towaoc, CO; and his stepdaughter, Engelie Dennison of Tuba City, AZ. Jake was preceded in death by his father, Raymond Colorow, and his son, Jacob Lopez.
