Jackie Calhoun Nelson Jackie Calhoun Nelson of Bayfield, Co passed away unexpectedly in her home on Monday, October 16, 2017 at the young age of 50. Jackie is survived by her father Clearance Calhoun of Cortez, Co. As well as many siblings. Laurie(Calhoun) Winemiller, Clancy and Charlotte Calhoun of Aztec, NM, Sarah(Calhoun) and Don Miller of Cortez, Co, Jenny(Calhoun) Nichols of Phoenix Az, Susie(Calhoun) and Tim Noack of Ignacio Co. Also Surviving her are many Nieces, Nephews, and cousins. She is predeceased by her mother Marjorie M. Liby. Jackie was born in Cortez, Co on March 17, 1967 to Clearance Calhoun and Marjorie Liby. Jackie proudly served our country in the Army and Army National Guard. When she came back to the Durango area she was a 911 dispatcher then she worked for LPEA. Jackie had a beautiful personality that touched many people's hearts that came into her life. Her smile was infectious and could light up the room. She made everyone around her happy. Whether is was a funny joke, her positive attitude, or her big smile, she was a delight to be around. She was incredibly smart with the best sense of humor one could have. Family meant so much to her, she enjoyed traveling to spend time with family far away or dinners and slumber parties with the ones close by. Jackie was very passionate for animals, her dogs and cats were her pride and joy. The family asks that because of Jackies love for animals that in Lieu of flowers Donations be made to either La Plata County Humane Society or Cortez Animal shelter in Jackie's name. The family will be holding private services for family and close friends.
