JACK WESLEY CLICK Jack Wesley Click, a long-time resident of Cortez, passed away at his home on Friday, November 5, 2010, after a courageous battle with cancer. Jack was born February 16, 1946 in Denver, Colo. He was the 4th child (and 1st son) of 7 children born to Wesley and Betty Click. His early years were spent between Denver and Chicago because his father was transferred often with his job. He graduated from Arvada High School in 1964 and attended Northeastern Jr. College in Sterling before joining the Marines in 1966. After being honorably discharged from the Marines, he moved back to Denver. In 1971, his father suffered major health problems and Jack moved to Cortez to help run the family businesses. Jack made Cortez his home and has given so much to the community he loved. He joined the Cortez Volunteer Fire Department in 1972. He served as Fire Chief from 1986 to 1989 and served on the Board of Directors. He was a member of the Cortez Elks Association and Cortez Men's Golf Association. He was chosen Cortez Citizen of the Year in 2010. He along with his wife Carol, own the local RE/MAX Mesa Verde Realty Offices which they purchased the Cortez office in 2001 and opened the Mancos office in 2007. Jack is survived by his loving wife, Carol; his daughters, Schelli Porter and son-in-law Mike of Cortez, Colo. and Alyssa Trujillo and son-in-law Ray of Fruita, Colo.; his step-children, Kenny Brengle and daughter in-law Koralisa of Cortez, Colo. and Christine Brengle of Castle Rock, Colo.; his grandchildren, Allison Porter, Byron Porter, Emmalee Trujillo, Aubree Trujillo and Dillon Brengle. He is also survived by five siblings Cynthia Ann Carroll, Sally Ann (Woody) Maggart, Peter Baldwin (Carol) Click, Terry Ann (Jerry) Kimbrel, and Liz Ann (Kurt) Stinebrink and many nieces and nephews. Jack was preceded in death by his parents and his sister Carol Ann Johnson. A Celebration of Jack's Life will be held for Jack on Friday, November 12, 2010 from 1:00 pm 4:00 pm at the Cortez Elks Lodge, Cortez, Colo. In lieu of flowers please donate to the Cortez Fire Protection District, 23 N. Washington Avenue or the Conquistador Jr. Golf Foundation at Dolores State Bank.
