JACK C. KINKADE Interment services for longtime Dolores resident, Jack C. Kinkade will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, December 28 at Summit Ridge Cemetery with Masonic rites being conducted by Montezuma Lodge No. 145. Memorial services will be held later that same day beginning at 2 p.m. at Johnson Memorial United Methodist Church. Reverend Bud Rousset and Revered Jim Patton will officiate. Jack was born December 12, 1916 in Nutt Mountain, Saskatchewan, Canada, the son of Ray F. and Mabel Elizabeth (Davis) Kinkade. He passed away at his Dolores home on Thursday, December 23, 2004 at the age of 88. Jack came to the Dolores area in 1937. The following year he married Emma Waters. They were blessed with a daughter, Norma and twin sons, Ray and Gay. Jack went to work for Musgrave Chevrolet in 1938 and twelve years later bought the dealership, renaming it Kinkade-Redd Chevrolet and later changing the name to Kinkade Chevrolet. Catering to the needs of his customers, Jack’s business was open six days a week and a half day on Sunday. Kinkade Chevrolet was a solid Dolores business until 1982 when Jack decided it was time to retire and enjoy a new kind of life with his beloved wife, Emma. Dedicated to the community in which he lived, Jack gave much of his time supporting various organizations and boards. He was a founding member and board member of the Dolores Water Conservancy District, served on the Advisory Board of the San Juan Basin Vo-tech School, was on the board of the Montelores Development Corp., the Dolores Rotary Club and the Dolores Chamber of Commerce. Jack was a founding member of the Dolores State Bank of which he continued to hold a seat on the Board. He is a member of the United Methodist Church. Probably one of his dearest affiliations is with the Montezuma Lodge No. 145 of the Masonic Lodge. He was awarded his 50 years membership pin in 1994. He held various chairs in the Lodge and was elected as Worshipful Master in 1948. Jack assisted with the local DeMolay and was a former Rainbow Dad. He was the Worthy Patron of the Order of the Eastern Star Chapter #130. For 12 years, he was a member of the degree team for the Pueblo Consistory and during that time, never missed an initiation. Throughout his life, he has been active in the Shriner’s organization. An avid outdoorsman, Jack enjoyed many activities that kept him out in the country he loved. He liked hunting, fishing, riding horses and jeeping. He also enjoyed cross-country skiing and snowshoeing. Time spent with Emma woodworking gave Jack much satisfaction, as did photography. Surviving Jack are his wife of 66 years, Emma Kinkade of Dolores; his daughter, Norma Engel and husband, Jim of Dolores; sons, Ray Kinkade and wife, Vivian of Tucson, Ariz., and Gay Kinkade and wife, Susan of Tempe, Ariz.; nine grandchildren, Kim Engel, Larry Engel, Amy Hunter, Susie Nimmons, Troy Kinkade, Michael Kinkade, Patrick Kinkade, Travis Kinkade and Carla Kinkade; and five great grandchildren, Abby, Aron and Jasen Engel and Cammy and Cassie Frautnick. Jack is also survived by his sister, June Weddle of Grand Junction, Colo., and his brother, Dwaine Kinkade of Tucson, Ariz. Memorial contributions can be made in memory of Jack Kinkade with the Dolores State Bank.
